Making Data Comprehensible!

Young African Statistician Association (YASA) is a non-profit organization (voluntary association), Registration No: 285-430 NPO, registered in 2021. The association can be traced back to 2008, when a legacy program (ISIballo Young African Statisticians Program) was established to increase the participation of young African statisticians at the 58th International Statistical Institute congress. This followed the need to equip young people with skills and knowledge to respond to the continent’s development plans and agenda, which include Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Agenda 2030 on sustainable development. Young people, being the future leaders and custodians of the future of the continent, were earmarked for support concerning the dearth of African statistical research and knowledge, coupled with the already existing but uncoordinated role they play in statistical spaces. YASA has since grown to draw membership from almost 20 African countries.
